Maya wanted a haircut

She wanted to cut her hair after Christmas, but I encouraged her to think about it for a few days and we eventually chickened out.  Yesterday she asked again I figured swift action would be best.  We only took about 3-4"

It turned out really cute and brought lots of bounce back (remember Maya's toddler curls).
Now Genna wants a haircut.

No, you Mama's Treya!

It has just come to my attention that Genna think's Maya's full name is Treya.

We were playing with Maya's letter name puzzle that spells M-A-I-T-R-E-Y-A.

When Maya read what it said, Genna replied, "No, you Mama's Treya"
.... as opposed to *my* Treya.

Mother's Day 2013

This week for Mother's Day I got to have a super fun night out with my friend Cathy.
We hung with all the co-eds at Calvin College to see MGMT.
I farmed this pic from some kid who couldn't be separated from their smartphone.  We were actually sitting on the opposite side of this gymnasium.

We went to Grandma Glista's for Mother's Day and were happy to meet baby Emmamae and play with Seraphina, David & Alex.

High Frequency Words

As we picked up Maya from school Thursday, she mentioned to Genna that she had a surprise for her.  It was in the backpack and couldn't be retrieved until we got home.  There was one for Genna AND one for her baby doll!  Oh, the anticipation!
When we got home the big reveal was that Maya had written a list of high frequency words for Genna to keep as her very own (and the one for babydoll was not quite done, but Genna accepted it anyway).
When we were cleaning off the table, I was ready to recycle these things.  But sweet Genna whisked them away to her special drawer and was genuinely glad to have received such a great gift from her smart big sis!
