"Muzzle" on the cob.  This kept her quiet for a while.  I even finished the dishes in peace!

Found a BIG GIRL bike at a garage sale today.  This one may even be a bit too small.  Oh well, it'll get us through the summer.
*Yes, it IS April 30th and we ARE wearing winter coats.*

My baby is so silly.... and adorable!

Easter Birthday

Yay Spring - Park Season

April Showers bring..... worms on the driveway.
It honestly did not dawn on me that she was going to put the worm in her mouth!  (DUH!)
I was amused watching her try to pick up the slimy wiggly thing.  I didn't think she'd actually get it.  Don't worry - no worms were harmed during this event.  He was set free in the grass to compost another day.

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAN!
Genna had a candle in her oatmeal on her actual birthday, April 18.
We celebrated with lamb cake & family on Easter Sunday.

Bath Party with Lyla!
Maya & Lyla attempted a real slumber party.  We finally had to break them up after 10:30pm, when neither of them was letting the other go to sleep.

READY, SET, EASTER EGG HUNT!

A lovely hail storm on 4/26/11

April may go out with a BANG(s)

I really wanted to make some Easter Dresses for the girls this year.  I had been trolling Etsy for inspiration, and had found plenty!  Fortunately I talked myself off THAT ledge.  For (1), the girls have an oversupply of wonderful hand-me-down dresses already.  REDUCE, REUSE, RECYLCE, you know!  It is Earth Day this weekend, too.  (2) It has been 30 degrees this week.  We got a good dusting of snow on Monday.

Ever since we've lived here I cannot remember a warm Easter.  One warm enough for little girls to run around outside, hunting for eggs, wearing pretty sundresses.  I thought this year would be different.  This is the latest date for Easter since 1943 and there won't be another later until April 25, 2038.  You'd think late April is ample time to thaw Michigan out.  Jeff has amped up his cursing of Michigan this week because of the ridiculous weather, totally unrelated to its affect on the holiday.  Just a general (his standard) rant.  I aim my indignation at the weather on account of the poor Easter Dresses.

It might be 65ยบ on Sunday (which I consider borderline sleeveless weather) - but I'm not holding my breath........but if I went outside right now I could SEE it.

This leads into my second topic, of Genna's hair.  Yes - I get it.  It's too long in the front.  It covers her eyes. She won't wear a ponytail or barrette.  (She will, however, happily EAT a rubber band or clip).  If it would ever warm up I could take her outside for some One-Year pictures.  Maybe AFTER that, we can butcher her hair.  You know, if we just let it grow out - it will be eventually easier to maintain - without BANGS.  So perhaps Genna will have her first haircut soon.  Or perhaps I will refrain just to spite you.  We'll see.

Free time for me = updates for you!

A great day for a blog update!  Aunt Geri & Uncle Frank generously offered to take Maya to Shipshewana yesterday and had her stay for a sleepover.  Genna and I got some shopping done and since she slept and napped GREAT - I got a lot of sewing finished....and just some plain-old free time.
What a nice much needed respite!  THANKS!

Jeff has become interested in Geocaching and Maya is his little treasure hunting helper.  If it would just WARM UP already, we could all enjoy this more often.

Papa often offers to take the girls off my hands for a few hours.  We've never been to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo before - so he took them one weekend.  Genna was obviously not into the rides.  The flash that I can't edit out of her eyes makes her appear super terrified!

THE TURKEYS
The flock of turkeys are back this year.  This time they have a very large showy male.
Genna - you turkey... always getting into our stuff!
Maya & Angela - silly dance party!
